Professional Services Business Unit Manager

Our Professional Services Business Unit has a tremendous opportunity for a highly motivated and insightful professional with an appetite to lead an exceptional team in growing the business and developing staff across all service offerings.  Those offerings, headed by Department Managers include KTA’s premier coatings consulting, engineering surveys, laboratory testing and forensic analysis, training, and environmental health & safety services.  In addition to technical acumen, the entrepreneur that leads this growing $5 million group must have strong business leadership, supervisory and organizational skills, and work well in both a team environment and independently.

If you are up for the challenge, you’ll know you’ve been successful when within 12 months you have acquired a full understanding of all KTA product and service offerings, and:

  • Actively engaged with and become an integral part of the company’s Senior Management Team;
  • Established a strong rapport with each of the Department Managers and their staff;
  • Prepared, implemented and maintained budgets and business development plans resulting in sustained growth and acceptable profits;
  • Coached Service Department Managers to expand and strengthen the talent within the Group;
  • Strategized on opportunities, and prepared professional proposals highlighting the expertise of KTA’s professional staff;
  • Implemented KTA’s Quality Management System and Safety Practices across all service departments to ensure consistent quality of service delivery, while ensuring a safe work environment; and
  • Enhanced the image and position of KTA in the marketplace by participating and pursuing leadership positions in professional organizations; preparing technical papers and articles for publication; networking with clients, prospects, suppliers, vendors and industry leaders to gather market intelligence and relay KTA’s value added services.

This position is in Pittsburgh, PA and reports to the CEO. It requires a degree in business administration, engineering, or the physical sciences, industry-related experience, and demonstrated supervisory, business management, and quality management skills. Certification as an SSPC Protective Coating Specialist is desirable.  Technical knowledge of coatings and corrosion is essential.
